The Aragonese Castle (Ischia Ponte): A majestic complex of churches, monasteries, prisons, pathways and terraces which offer unforgettable views.
The Cathedral of Santa Maria della Scale (Ischia Ponte): Built in the 14th century, with notable examples of finely crafted sculptures and paintings and a magnificent baptism fountain which belonged to the castle.
Sea Museum (Ischia Ponte): Situated inside the Clock Tower, this is made up of seven display rooms which are spread out over three floors. The museum has displays on the seafaring life of the Ischia people, with archaeological exhibits, photographs and old postcards, shell collections, navigation instruments and many other objects of considerable interest.
Guevara Tower (Cartaromana): Commonly known as Michelangelo’s Tower because the great Michealangelo Buonarroti traditionally used it as his holiday residence, the tower was built in the XVth century and belonged to the Guevara family, dukes of Bovino. Inside you can find a painting of the XVth century which is attributed to one of Raffaele’s followers.
Aqueduct (Pilastri): This was erroneously attributed to the Roman era due to its architectural style. In actual fact it was built by the cardinal Girolamo Rocca in the seventeenth century to transport drinking water from the spring at Buceto near Fiaiano to the inhabitants of the castle and the town of Celsa, today known as Ischia Ponte.
Like most other Ischian towns, Ischia Town offers the tourist both splendid beaches and green hills covered in vineyards and lush vegetation.
